Chai/ Spiced Tea with milk
Chai is a traditional East Asian tea drink that is blended with spices and milk. It's one of my favorite tea drinks and perks of living in international communities in the U.S.
Of course never attempted it before until I saw @add_your_sparkle Chai video and wanted to get my perfect ratio, so here it is👇 (you'll love it)
Serves 3 (8oz.) Mugs or medium size (whatever that means to you 😂)
5 green cardamom pods, split
3 cloves (optional)
1 3/4 cup water
2 black tea bags
1 cup whole milk
2 tbsp. sugar (or more but I'm not trying to die 😜)
In a small sauce pan, bring the water and cardamom to a boil for 10 min. Make sure you cover the sauce pan so the water doesn't evaporate. Drop the tea bags in the water and boil for another 10 min.
(I do this to get a strong cardamom taste)
Add the milk and SIMMER for 10 min. Saucepan covered.
(Tip from the aunties, the more you boil it the better 🤷♀️)
Add your sugar and mix then strain into mugs!
