Mahlabeh with Akkawi Cheese


Serves : 6 people

Ingredients:

4 cups of Whole Milk

1/2 cup of Soft Semolina

1 cup of Sugar

1 teaspoon Corn Starch

1/2 teaspoon rose water

1/2 teaspoon orange blossom water

1/2 Tablespoon of Unsalted Butter

8 oz. of Akkawi Cheese (optional but will come out amazing!)

Toppings:

- Honey

- Pistachio (grounded)

- Chopped Walnuts

Directions:

Note: If you want to add the Akkawi Cheese. Preheat the oven to 350 F, and prepare a small pyrex for the oven or pan.

1. In a pot add the milk and let it sit on a high heat on the stove for 5 min.

2. Add to the hot milk the soft semolina and sugar.

3. Keep mixing well on high heat with a whisk and bring to a boil.

4. Add the 1 teaspoon of Corn Starch. And keep mixing with the whisk, don't stop mixing. Add the rose water and orange blossom.

Note: if you don't have both. You can add a teaspoon of either.

Continue if you want to had the Akkawi Cheese. If not place in plates and Enjoy with toppings!

5. When the mixture starts to harden, immediately place half the amount into the pyrex or pan going into the oven.

6. Place a layer of Akkawi cheese.

Note: You have to sweeten the Akkawi Cheese if not already sweetened. Place in a bowl with a slight running water for 1 hour. The salt will go away.

7. Pour the rest of the mixture on the Akkawi Cheese.

8. Use the unsalted butter to spread on top of the mixture that is going in the oven to give it an extra crisp.

9. Place in the oven for 8 min. Broil for 3 min. And let it cool!

10. When serving add the toppings.
