Hello! Welcome to Habibi, What's Cooking?
I'm Amale Chamseddine (spelled Amal, I don't know why the e is there, that's how I was taught to write it!) I wear many hats (or hijabs!), but mainly I'm a fashion designer and business enthusiast. I love to work with fashion design, graphic design, wedding decorations, interior design, photography, styling, writing and my most recent love is cooking/baking and food art. Basically I have always been in love with Art and learning.
I live with my big family in Rhode Island, USA; the beautiful ocean state. And we all love to eat and cook. I spent my childhood in Saida, Lebanon until we had to move back to the U.S. in 2007. Since then I have been holding onto my Lebanese roots. I always loved Lebanese food and thought it was the most delicious and healthiest cuisine.
As a young girl, I thought I will have to pick-up food from my mom's house when I get older because I had zero cooking skills. But in 2016 I went to study abroad in the U.A.E. and was forced to make my first homemade Lebanese dish. It was pea and carrot stew with rice. It was horrible but I ate it while crying. haha! I kept attempting to cook until I got a few successful recipes I got rely on in my book. And since then I have been improving my cooking and baking skills and recording in my cook book.
I decided to start blogging my culinary experience and share it on social media to encourage myself to improve my cooking skills, and to help inspire you my cooking friend to make a dish. I hope you find my blog helpful. Always reach out and share with your family/ friends!
